Hi Guys,

After a bit of advice - taken off some blown plaster and want to dot and dab some plasterboard to patch it up. Only problem is, to get it level with the board next to it, it would need to be built up a bit (annoying not quite enough for two boards together).

I'd rather get it level before skimming than trying to build up the skim more on one side. Can hardwall (these are high suction walls) be used to build out the underneath brick work a little? and then just dot and dab on to the hardwall when dry?

Any advice is much appreciated.

Are you just filling out a patch?
Not sure what your final goal is - are you skimming over the lot?

Options, after cleaning and sealing the wall to kill the suction, would be to bond out fully and then skim over the lot

But two boards thickness is not that thick for dot and dab, even if heavier you can stick strips of board on first to bring it out, then dab onto the strips

Thanks for the quick reply. It's around the door frame (dont want to take that off if possible) but the wall is a bit wonky so at the bottom of the board it meets the door frame fine, but at the top where it meets another board that is above the door frame it's a fair bit lower. So really wanting to build out the wall slightly just at the top to even it up. Hope that makes sense.

Once it's lined up I'd be taping the joints and skimming.
