my nephew has been given free a bush A126Q washing machine but when we plumbed it in it wont start - the red led comes on and when we turn the dial to any program even just a spin the motor makes a noise as if its running but still nothing happens no drum movement or no water intake into drum ---- any help please ?

but the water is not going in either so wash cycle wont start without water in the drum and no movement even if its put just on a spin
It could be the pump motor you are hearing when on spin. You could check the motor brushes. If they are worn out the diagnostics circuitry may be shutting down other parts of the machine. Often the pump still runs even in a fault condition, so that you are not left with a dead machine full of water.

many thanks for all your ideas and tips but we have now decided just to dispose of the machine and he is going to buy a second hand washing machine and it better work ha ha ha as I say thanks for all your help cheers
