What does a by pass valve do in a combi system .
2.My combi system is fed by a worcester boiler fitted in the loft of a bungalow, all the rads are fed from down pipes from the loft, why has the engineer fitted drain valves to each rad,I would have thought that being fed from above all that was needed to drain the system was to uncouple the rad.
cheers

um yes glad you got the plumber in.
Snorkel and flippers anyone

you always fit drains to every drop fed rad unless your system allows water to flow uphill by gravity they are full exept the one you drain

failing that do as last post but would advise wet suit as well :D

Still cannot understand the use of drain valves when I could simply uncouple the rad and drain that way .On the subject of bypass valve,my bathroom rad is the only one not to have a trv fitted to it so does this save having a bypass fitted to the system.

yes thats what its for

the fitting of drain valves means your not fighting to hold a rad full of water
its stabdard practice on drop fed rads :D
