On the copper tank in the airing cupboard is a Satchwell dial that goes from 40 to 90 (i have it set on 40 ) the cable that goes from it to the wiring box is a grey flat type 10mmx 5mm it has been there since the house was built but in order to tidy it away i need a longer cable could you tell me what size the cable should be ? thankyou

Use a round flexible cable not flat twin and earth.

Your cylinder stat should be set at 50 degrees minimum to prevent legonella.

If immersion is standard 3kW, then this will do.

oppoligies if im wrong, but i think the OP was talking about the tank stat.
if so, and assuming the heating system is fused to a 3a, a 0.75mm would suffice
