yep 4 basically depending on fixing points. they are 2.4 x 1.2 m

We always endeavour to use 900mm x 1800mm plasterboards on ceilings. 900mm 2400mm as a last resort.

Look at the centering on your timbers. 450mm (18") centres would indicate 900mm x 1800mm plasterboards and 400mm or 600mm (16"/24") centres would indicate using 900mm x 2400mm plasterboards.

Staggering the joints (essential) will mean a wee bit more wastage, so factor this in.

thanks for the reply, whichever size i use how many will i need?

16" floor joist spacing. Quite normal. Fits an 8x4ft board perfectly. The metricised sizes are almost exactly the same, apart from the name.
