When our old downstairs toilet was removed in our 1930s semi and old pipe which had been concreted in was ground down by the plumber. You can just see the old pipe in the ground at the base of the new plastic soil pipe in this pic and the concrete (or cement!) around it. The old pipe seems to be a yellowy colour and has a ridge around it. Wondering what the material is. It still has a lot of debris around it which I need to clear and have suddenly thought it may have been asbestos in which case I don't want to go hoovering it up! The yellowy colour makes me think not though. also a qualified plumber did the job so like to think they would have recognised asbestos if they saw it! Interested in hearing what people think the material could be...
