Can I use plastic ducting for gas cooker extraction hood?

The question's in the title I guess. Everywhere I look, I get conflicting information. Some say metal, some plastic. Does anyone know of a rule/ regulation here? Many thanks!

Iwould have thought that common sense would say that plastic was perfectly ok, there will be thousands of instalations with problems if it is not. I've never heard of any such reg.
