Hello, I am looking for some help with replacing my window handles on my pvc windows.

I have this type of handle and I have searched until I'm blue in the face but cannot find anything close.

I have emailed a specialist handle company and they just stated you cant get them anymore with no real help of any form of replacement I could use.

I have found a hybrid type handle called a "cockspag" handle but the backset only comes as 21mm max and mine is 27mm and the spindle on the cockspag is 40mm and mine is 10mm...

any ideas anyone please?

You could trim the spindle with an angle grinder down to 10mm pretty easily.

Could you replace the wedge on your window with one that is 6mm shallower to enable you to use a 21mm backset rather than 27mm?

Worst case scenario you could always try removing the spur - they are additional rather than primary security after the espag.

well the problem with not having the spur is that at the moment the spur makes the window shut "tight" against the frame when it's locked onto the wedge and without it I don't think this would happen... I suppose I could technically change the size of the wedge but I tried removing the wedge just now and it seems its been stuck down fast as when I removed the screw it wouldn't budge and I didn't want to risk damaging the frame by forcing it....

could you put a shim behind the ' cockspag ' by the screw holes to pack it off the extra 6 mill and then trim the spindle to the desired length ,

I think I see what you're saying - perhaps a piece of wood or something fitted to the frame for the handle to screw into that is 6mm depth?

Yep...or maybe a piece of upvc'trim' as that would be 6mm in depth anyway
