Hi

I wondered if you could help me please. toilet keeps filling up with water and I decided to see if I could repair it myself. Being a type that has a flush button on the top of the cistern I tried to take the button out to see if there was a screw underneath. There was no screw under the button...then I read that you could twist the button anticlockwise to loosen it. It seemed to be spring loaded and would not loosen and then the button stopped working altogether. I just can't get the cistern lid off. Here is a photo of the button. It's a B&Q toilet.

Cheers Adam

Try just lifting the lid. Looks like the sort of button that has a backnut. There's likely a cable that then unclips from the back part of the button. Try it, but don't pull it too far away. Make sure it's not been siliconed down.
