can't remove top of tap

i've got a one hand armature and it's leaking. in order to exchange the washer, i have to get the top off but i can't. any suggestions?

Never heard the word "armature" applied to a tap.

Getting tops off depends on tap design - sometimes with the ordinary ones you need a "puller" as used by mechanics. I always carry one.
