Cast Iron Soil Pipe

I need to cut the Cast Iron Soil Pipe in my bathroom, will it just hacksaw through or are there some precautions i need to be aware of (shattering etc). Would using a grinder be a better option?.

would be easier if you can get it in

if the pipe is vertical make sure the top is supported

Very hard to hacksaw, yes grind as much as you can then cut a section away so you can insert the grinder to do the back portion, similar for doing clay underground pipe. If it fails start again lower down and so on. Usually works but is tough and tedius like all our work.
