Could someone please explain to me what is meant by an open system in CH. I have recently fitted a chrome towel radiator in a bathroom and it has corroded on one of the cross members I have been told it must be on an open system but I am sure when I fitted it the supply was fed from the :?: CH header tank in the loft like the other radiators that I replaced in the various wcs and bathrooms in the same house. :?:

Hi there,

If you have aheader tank in the loft then you have an "OPEN VENTED SYSTEM"

As a general rule Sealed Systems are combi boilers, but there are other variations.
