Central heating leak sealers?

Erm, maybe...

Tried them a couple of times and with the first instance it slowed it down, with the second it stopped it for a couple of weeks. Really depends on the size and type of leak. I'd say try it. Worth a shot.

as i said, it must be a tiny leak, so was just a thought.

anyone else tried them?

Have you checked the pressure relief outside isn't dripping? I don't like leak sealers in sealed systems, always that slight concern that they may seal up the pressure relief valve, leaving nowhere for excess pressure to vent to

was going to check the PRV.

its an old oil boiler, so cast iron i guess.

Most likely steel ?? leak sealers I have used them with success on several occasions , fernox or sentinel How ever !! I ended up blocking or restricting the heat exc on a condensing boiler ounce :(

hence the question on boiler type , I assume it is not an oil condenser ??

there is risk but with an old fashioned ? type of boiler the risk would be pretty minimal , I would probably use it if there was no easy option for finding & effecting a repair ( leak ) do what it says on the tin , stick to either sentinel or fernox , stay away from cheap products from ?? who ever , hope it go's well !

nah, not condensing, its very old..!!

as its such a small leak, i reckon its going to be hard to find.

i will try it and see what happeneds.

thanks.
