central heating pump runs all day!!??

hi there

i have a friend who says that his central heating pump runs on all day after the hot water has been on.

it has gradually started running on more and more over time.

it is a normal gas boiler that goes to a 3 port valve and then on to the hot water tank and the heating........................


any ideas why this might be happening???

does the water get very hot ? perhaps the c/stat has come adrift.
if on h/w only turn the c/stat down, the pump should go off.
if the pump is wired up to overrun thats a different matter. this will depend on what sort of boiler is fitted.
