Hello,

I have a glow worm 18si system boiler, fitted for the previous owner. I've always found the radiators to under perform - it never gets that warm in the house (we have cavity wall insulation, correct roof insulation). also the rads never feel as warm to touch as in other houses. All rads were bled/balanced last week. The house is a 2 bed town house, so not huge. We have 5 rads, but generally only ever have 3 on.

The central heating temperature read out hits a maximum of 52deg. Looking at the 18si manual, there are some DIP switches to change the maximum heating temperature. One setting is 53deg (the one i assume the boiler is currently on). The next setting is 87deg. There is a star next to this setting saying 'GB/IE preferred setting'. There is also a 73 deg setting. Is there an issue with me change the dip switches to give me 73 or 87deg central heating? Any ideas why it wasn't configured this way in the first place?

Thanks for your help in advance. Hope everyone has a warm xmas :)

Cheers!

Dave

fire it up to 83

probally a basic setting it reverts back to if power switched off

when weathers milder or if you have kids you can turn it down or if its too hot

hope you have trvs on radiators, put them at 2 or 3 in bedrooms, max everywhere else

hot water should be set about 47, so no chance of scalding in bath, it will save money as you will not have to put much cold water in bath as well

Cheers! There's a control on the front as well so I can always use that to turn it down on milder days.

we don't have trvs, mainly because the place is always freezing! I'll ask my plumber to install some in the new year.

thanks for the help. i'll update in a bit :)
