This is a serious question,
Situation -- new bungalow all piped up apart from final links to boiler in loft,[boiler not yet purchased] intended to fit combi but am having second thoughts after all you experts criticising them.
Is it still reasonably practical to change from combi at this late stage ? if so please give me a clue as to how to proceed

Yes , go ahead ,just make sure you purchase a quality condensing combi ,eg . , worcester or vaillant , with an output over 30 kw .
 
i agree with mikey

the new heat onlys are about as reliable as new combis,
