Does anyone have some advice on the best tools to use for channelling?

I have a top floor flat with solid concrete floor. The flat will be rewired through the ceiling void, with wires dropping down through channels in the walls to sockets/ switches.

Since all wiring is currently surface mounted, all channelling will have to be done from scrtach, so there is a fair bit to do!

I'd like to make it as quick and easy as possible! I haven't got the time (or inclination) to chisel it all out, so does anyone have any recommendations for affordable equipment that will ease the task?

Cheers!

For small amounts of channeling, I've found a cheap SDS drill from Screwfix with a channelling attachment works well. It does make a mess of the surrounding plaster unless you score the edge first though.

If you're going to be doing the lot, it could be worth hiring a proper chaser.

Are the walls concrete aswell or just the floor?

Is the flat lived in? There a some fantastically messy machines on the market which will ease the work load, but will cover every last inch of your flat in dust.

Something like this is good

(You don't have to buy it, I'm sure your local hire center will have one)

Then just clear out the middle of the case with a drill and chisel bit.
