Has anyone any experience of removing chimney breasts with the chimney configuration shown below on a detached house? If we wanted to remove the chimney up till the 1st floor but keep the stack as it is, then where would the supports go?
Inverted Y shaped chimney has standard chimney breasts on ground floor, and Y shape is visible from outside.
We'd definately need to get a structural engineer in for the calculations, but would like to get an idea whether this is possible and how it would be done.
