Can anyone advise please, It seems I will have to remove a chimney stack past the line of the roof, it can be left capped in the loft. Is this an easy job to do and is there anything i need to look out for.

logistics will say that no roof work is going to be easy.

even if the chimney was easily accessible, it would just make the job 'less difficult'. ;)

for a builder, familiar with roof construction and tiling then the job is fairly standard.

you will need to remove a larger amount of tiles than you think, in order to access the nearest rafters and allow for an adequate felt lap.

location of the chimney through the roof will also play a part.

i would leave the chimney open in the roof space.

if you have plain tiles, be prepared for some collateral damage by the scaffolders. these can only be repaired once the scaffold is down.
