Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone could help me. I have a 1930's semi detached house. I wanted to remove the chimney breast only from from an upstairs bedroom. I had the downstairs section of the chimney filled in. This chimney is not joining any neighbours walls etc.

Can anyone advise me on the best solution. I'm happy to keep the rest of the chimney stack, just want to remove the section that is in a bedroom.

Thanks

Kevin

Hi
If you remove the chimney breast from your bedroom it will leave the chimney in the loft and the stack outside unsupported and thats a lot of weight to have falling in on your house. The chimney in the loft must be supported by proper steel work built into the stucture of the house. A good builder should be able to help you.
