Chuggin hot water from the boiler

im having a real problem with my hot water feed sort of feeding back on itself and coughing out my hot water. its quite violent on the pipes and i have to turn the tap off immediatly.

it didnt used to do this. whats gone wrong?

If it is a hot water cylinder fed from a cold tank in the loft, you may have a partial blockage of the cold feed from the tank to the cyl. It will then suck air down the expansion pipe. A bit of insulation or whatever may have got into the pipe at the exit from the tank. You can try - very carefully - backflushing by connecting a hot and mains cold tap together with a hose. Don't burst the cylinder, though!
 
I used to get this on my own system befroe i replaced it with a combi the Cylinder used to scale up around the outlet to the point where air was sucked down the vent I had to peridorically remove the outlet and have a good old poke around with a screwdriver to remove the scale from the top of the cylinder!!

Yes I fitted a water softener at the same time as fitting the Combi before you ask!! :LOL:
