HI,

The plugs on the back of my cistern are coming away from the wall. I am planning on changing the bathroom soon so just need a quick fix.

I was thinking of taking it off and packing out the holes and using new screws and plugs but all the fittings look so messy and corroded I really dont want to take the cistern off the wall.

Can I just squirt some no nails in the holes and shove the plugs back in?

Cheers,

Mick

Pull the cistern forward and squirt some silicone behind the cistern.

I don't know why this idea got short shrift as a temporary fix!

Admittedly not put to the correct use, i.e filled with water, but I worked in 2 bathroom showrooms where all the sanitaryware was just held on with liberal amounts of silicone.

Nothing ever fell of, no matter how the customers abused it.

Geomickb, you got a perfectly good answer to your problem from a tradesman, but chose to think you know better...........carry on.

I've seen heavy undermount sinks held in place by silicone only.
