Try lubricating the shaft where it goes into the gearbox, just below the lever, that can make quite a difference. XUD clutches do tend to go heavy when they wear, especially on XMs, you really need booth feet!

Thats an excellent point made by Peter - the operating arms get very stiff due to rust in both the top and bottom bushes. Usually you can tell by disconnecting the cable and pulling the arm forward. It should move easily.
However, if the pedal gets heavy near to the floor and it has a 'dead' feel, then the clutch is at the end of its days. Try a clutch specialist such as Mr Clutch for a competitive price.
Who on earth would want to spend their working days fitting clutches
John :)

But think of all the fun they had in their previous life.

Singers, X Factor judges, DJ's, Footballers, etc. etc

The clutches are just pay back

:D :D  I therefore propose that members of the X Factor replace a clutch on a Scimitar GTE as an initiation ceremony
