Hi All, I think I posted this in the wrong area, sorry :(

I have a bidet and want to fit a click waste, reasons later.

I measured the current waste thread od and it it about 36mm.

I have learnt that there is no real logic in the way waste products are dimensioned and so took this 36mm to be closest to 1 1/4 inch diameter and set about ordering a click waste identified as "1 1/4 inch 32mm click waste."

Imagine my surprise when the item arrived and it was over 41mm dia across the threads!

I contacted the vendor and asked which part of the device met this 32mm or 1 1/4 inch measurement. I didn't get a reply.

I have google myself bosseyed trying to find a click waste to suit but all vendors seem to apply this wonky logic regarding the quoted size and the real size.

If anyone can guide me through this maze it would be much appreciated.

Right, the reason for the change.

The bidet has a pop up waste and a tap with a movable nozzle. The problem is that at the lowest possible angle the water jet is far too high causing severe discomfort to the nether regions.

At present, I have to hang a flannel over the tap to intercept the flow but even then, occasionally, the flannel slips off and pain and shouting ensue.

I have found several taps which will do the job properly but they don't have the pop up facility.

Well, if I can get the click waste I want, then I can get the tap I want.

I'm sorry this is so long but a complete picture is better than half a story.

Any help will be much appreciated

Regards

Chris

Thanks Newboy,

Yes, I get this 32 and 40 all over the place but here my requirement is for something that actuall measures 36mm across the threads and in the decreasing sizes it would go bath =40 basin=32 and bidet =?.

It is this third smallest size I'm looking for and as I say, it measures 36mm across the threads.

Regards

Chris

32mm is the pipe diameter so the thread diameter will be slighter larger - I'd bet on a 32mm waste being the size you're looking for. Nobody sells wastes by thread diameter.

Yes, this is exactly the problem.

I saw and ordered a 32mm click waste. When it arrived it's threads were over 40mm.
The unit I am replacing has 36mm thread.

The "32mm" device won't fit the hole in the bidet!

So what is the next size down from 32mm called?

Regards

Chris

Politely - unique / In the trade - a bastard size!

There is no standard size below 32mm - specialist fittings do have other sizes but not in a domestic installation.

If it's like every other bidet I've seen/fitted

32mm waste onto 32mm trap onto 32mm waste pipe

As it happens, the basin is 32mm so the click waste I have will be a spare.

So, where does one start looking for a fatherless size smaller than 32mm?

There are no options as the drain hole in the bidet porcelain, though a lot bigger than the name '32mm' is too small to fit the name '32mm' which is 41mm in dia

Are there specialists in foreign sizes I could ask?

I'm sure I can't be the first to have come across this problem!

Thanks for helping

Regards

Chris

Still very surprised!

There is no standard waste size below 32mm. The next issue is that, if you find one, you will also need a unique trap to fit onto the unique waste and then unique waste pipe to fit onto the trap. Every 32mm trap will fit onto a 32mm waste as the thread diameter and pitch are standard.

Is there any manufacturers mark on the bidet/current waste/trap?

I've seen a click click waste called "28mm". I wish I had bought it straight away cos I can't find it now!

So, I guess what I am after is the " 1" click waste".

Now where can I find one of those?

Regards

Chris

The only 28mm waste fittings I've ever come across are through camping and caravanning suppliers.

Yes II see that a lot in my Google hauls but nonetheless my bidet has a 1" waste but I just don't see any around.

Pm you don't see many caravans with bidets! :)

Personally I have never used a bidet and have no intentions of using one but I am assuming that you wouldn't actually close the click waste otherwise you will have to stick your hand into the a**e water to release it.

Hi Squeaky, I thought this forum was for asking questions and getting answers.
I can deduce from your reply not wanting to put your hand in a**e water, that you abhore baths too.

Ah well, each to their own.

Obviously!

I just wanted to check that you had thought about what you were doing. Personally I wouldn't want to stick my hand into the swamp but that's up to you. As for baths, no, I use a shower instead.

You are correct in thinking that this forum is for questions and answers but maybe you didn't notice the smiley at the end of my post.
