I have run an extention from the outside aerial into my house. The cable is 5mm in diameter and had a moulded connector on each end. I had to cut one off to get it through the hole into my house. The problem I have is all the coaxial connectors are too big and just slip off the 5 mm cable. Does anyone know of smaller connectors or do I need a wall socket like this

TIA

Something like the ones in your link would work. Or you could use a couple of layers of heatshrink tube to bulk up the weedy cable...or even (shudders at the thought) some tape.

You've gone ahead and done yours now, so there's no point in telling you that proper aerial/satellite cable would have saved you a load of hassle. But for the benefit of anyone else reading this...These cheap cables with moulded plugs aren't that great.

Anyway, good luck with your install. :)

Next time use a bigger drill bit :D

Now use a soldering iron and remake the cut.

i just fold the outer layer back rather than cut it off when exposing the core or several turns off electrical tape
i may be misunderstanding the connection type though :D

no i am ok i have checked ;)

Is it WF65-1 cable like this?

If so, you strip the end and you take a short piece of outer plastic sheath from standard 7mm TV aerial cable. Slide it onto the thin cable then fold the copper braid back over it. You then have a normal size end.

Or you can fit a "Special" F plug to it and use a mating socket or a TV-F adapter.

(Scroll down.)

P.s. there's only one 'T' in "extension".
