Hi. I have a Stelrad Boiler (model unknown I am afraid but its old), and a central heating system consisting of 5 upstairs radiators and 4 downstairs. The hot water is working, and the upstairs radiators are fine (and can be regulated by the thermostat) but the downstairs radiators are cold. The pump is working (I can feeel it vibrating) but the pipe on the other side of the motorised valve (i think thats what it is - its a metal box with a slider switch that can be set to manual or auto) is a lot cooler than everything else, and this is the pipe that goes to the downstairs radiators (as far as I can tell).Am i correct in thinking this may be the problem? I can switch it to manual but the radiators are still cold downstairs. Could this also be a problem with a blockage in the downstairs radiators somewhere? I have bled everything and the radiators have been balanced, but I can't hear that ticking radiator noise you get when they are heating up. Apologies for the lack of technical terminology but I am new to central heating. ANy advice gratefully recieved.
