I have just had a vertical radiator installed, but only one column is hot, the other ones are cold. Can anyone help explain this?

Thanks for that. I've tried to bleed it but water comes out straight away and there are no gurgling noises. Should I just let the water come out for a while as the air could be trapped at the beginning?

No don't keep bleeding it, call the installer back to finish off the job...perhaps it's not balanced.

Hi

Don't some of those come with an injector tube to distribute the heat? Bit like the old twin entry valves.

Thanet.

I was called out to a job this week with exactly the same problem. Someone had installed one (DIY) on a microbore system.

Because these radiators are very tall (this one 2m), and have a lot of water in them to heat, they need a really good flow. What was happening was the water took the easy route through the nearby small standard radiators, without making the much bigger effort to flow through and heat the new vertical rad.

To cure this problem, I closed the lockshield valves on the downstairs rads and opened them a half turn. If you system is not microbore with manifolds, then following the forum FAQs on balancng rads might help you.

You need to boost flow to the vertical rad.
