Hi,

New to the forum, been reading through and seems a great place to be...
I am currently doing my C&G plumbing course at the minute and have come to a bit of a dead end...

I am doing a scenario on the PC which i basically have to replace the ball cock in the Cold Water Cistern.
It also says to perform a cold water system check...
Now this is where i am stuck...all the info i get is that the system is a mains fed system

I have been checking:
Cold taps
Stop Cock
Drain Valve
All iso valves
CWS Ball cock
Toilet Ball cock

am i missing something? do i have to do this in some kind of order?

Its not as technical to be checking pressures or air locks.etc

Thanks in advance

I thought a ball cock was supposed to be called a float operated valve these days. Never heard of a cold water system check, unless it just means checking that you've turned it back on and the taps aren't left running. No more than common sense really.

Turn off supply

Remove ball valve

Fit new one

Turn water on.

Check operation.

Check for leaks.

Finish cup of tea - which should still be hot as this job takes less than five minutes.

Surely thats all there is too it?
