Hi all,

Does anyone have a relatively foolproof and ingenious way of colour matching existing kitchen worktop ?

I'm doing a job where the worktop on one side of the room wants extending but the person purchased the kitchen over 10 years ago.

Is there a smart way to get a match without going from shop to shop trying to match the colour as close as possible.

Any ideas ? Many thanks

Sorry, Probably not helpful! But could go for something completely contrasting in colour/material, that picks up an accent colour from somewhere else in the kitchen?

Firstly take a good look at the underside of the worktops inside of the cupboards - most quality worktop manufacturers print their name on the underside of their products, together with the laminate patternor number

Failing that, the three major suppliers of worktops in the UK are Bushboard (who use Formica laminates), Pfleiderer (Duropal brand) and Wilsonart (Resopal brand). Pretty much all the other manufacturers copy the laminate designs of these three brands, and in fact there is a great deal of similarity between the designs of these three. So take a look at their websites and you may be able to get a match. All these manufacturers will supply a few small laminate swatches on request - Pfleiderer also supply A4 size samples, although only 2 per request (unless that has changed). Note that these firms only make 38/40mm laminate, not the cheaper 30mm type, althougj 30mm worktops often use similar laminates

Of course, with a 10 year old design it could be that yours is no longer manufactured - styles change, albeit slowly - in which case eBay may be your friend
