I have a compression fitting that has a tiny weep from the backend of the nut ie not the end that threads on.
I know sometimes a compression fittings leak appears on the thread end of the nut.

Does the end of the nut that leaks, tell you anything about the nature of the cause of the weep and it's remedy ?

Tighten the nut, hold against yourself with a spanner or grips on the body of the fitting.
Unless it is very loose try a couple of flats at a time (about a ¼ turn) till it stops.

Are you saying that this particular weep position is specifically due to the nut not being tight enough ?

I have tightened it slightly and I am awaiting developments ;)

I would go with the 1/4 turn advice.

If you were to tighten too much, the olive will kink the pipe.
