Hi, my combi boiler has a LP111 programmer but no room thermostat.

Can some body please explain how to wire a RTS8 thermostat into it, it is a 2 or 3 wire connection.

Thanks in advance.

You can wire a thermostat into the programmer, however normally the boiler will have dedicated terminals specifically provided for a thermostat to be connected to. Where no thermostat is installed, a wire link is fitted across the terminals.

You don't give any details of the boiler so I can't advise, however if you look at the wiring diagram in your boiler installation manual, you will see where they are.

The RTS8 can be wired with 3 or 2 wires. With the 2 wire set up the internal resistor that is used as heater to improve switching accuracy is wired in series and will be effected by current flow, so if you will be running a new cable anyway, the 3 wire set up would be the best.

If you haven't got the thermostat already, I would consider using a digital one with a temperature display. They are two wire connection, don't have the resistor and are very accurate.
