Tomorrow I'm going to connect a room thermostat to my vaillant EcoTec 831.

I'm using a Horstmann DRT 2 room thermostat and the electrical connectors are marked as NO-COM-NC.

My boiler has a standard connector block for which the thermostat connects into. connection 3 and 4 is bridged currently and it looks to me like the room stat connect into terminal 4-5 on the boiler.

Can anyone advise me please on which connection are to me made.

And assuming that is is only the 2 conections to me made that I should just use some 2 core cable that I have laying around.

Yes only 2-core cable is required.

At the boiler it's terminals 3 & 4, remove the bridging wire first. (5 is a Neutral which isn't used in this case).

At the thermostat connect to COM & NO

Does it matter what colour wire goes to each connection both ends?

It's nice when someone asks how the job is done.

Then they tell you they know better.

If terminal 3 is an earth, go ahead.

Have a new Vaillant PCB close to hand, and don't touch anything metallic until the fuse blows.

One more thing please gents.

Do I have to remove the Vaillant 130 analogue time clock from the front fascia of the boiler?

My room stat is also programmable?

Many Thanks
