Hi folks,
I'm replacing a toilet whereby the back of the toilet feeds straight in to a 5" cast iron pipe. The cast iron bends twice in quick succession before exiting the building so I can't cut it to convert to plastic.
The current toilet outlet slides inside the cast iron, which has an enlarged lip to accept the toilet.
I think it may be difficult to cut this lip / flange off as it almost immediately goes in to a bend, so it won't leave a straight section to connect a rubber pan connector to.
It looks like the toilet has been mortared in. Luckily the mortar is crumbling so the toilet will be removed easily (hence why it needs replaced!).
Just wanted to get some advice about how to do this. Is it just a normal mortar mix? Or should I use a modern silicone type equivalent of some kind?
Cheers for any advice,
Rich
