I have a spare 32a mcb on non rcd side of main cu.Can I take a feed off this through the wall into the garage to fit a garage cu (40a/30ma rcd) to run a light and double socket for power tools. What cable should you use to connect this.
Is the circuit in the house CU RCD protected? If so, and the garage is in effect just another room, then you don't need another CU in there, any more than you need a CU in any other room in your house.
Use 2.5mm to run a new ring main into the garage. At a convenient point on that ring use a switched FCU to run a spur off for the light.
Thanks for reply and info mate. The main reason for fitting a garage cu will be to run garden power tools from it thus keeping it separate from rest of house (if this makes sense)
