have a ideal classic ff280, GAS BOILER, last week it started running all the time, with the programmer switched off, i replaced the programmer & the cylinder stat, but still the same. I wondered if the overrun was faulty on the boiler, but looking at the manuals, there is no reference to it, any ideas?

could be a possible fault with either 1 of 2 port valves or midposition valve

i also had to fix this problem for a customer and a new programmer done the trick

if competent safely disconnect the switched live wire from the boiler this will give an indication of weather the problem is with the boiler or external controls

I'll probably get blasted from the sky ina moment, BUT. to the best of my knowledge and memory, the Classic FF has no pump run on ,which makes fault finding of this nature a bit easier, suspects are, Motorised valve 7 actuator, or Programmer, these items should be methodically tested and repaired/repalced, this should rectify your problem ;)
