Whilst staying in holiday accomodation recently i discovered that the kitchen had a fridge freezer fitted in a tall 'larder' unit with fitted doors attached by a clever sliding attachment on the edge of the appliance door thus enabling installation of a standard fridge freezer in the space. Has anyone come across or indeed know where to purchase these?

That looks like it, have you used them? What type of hinge would be recommended at other end?

Be aware, that an integrated unit would generally be manufactured with a large compressor and a large condenser. You must ensure that you have adequate airflow, or you will not be able to maintain temperatures.
It is not as simple as putting a fridge / freezer into a cabinet.
I talk from many years experience in the domestic appliance development business.
