Core drilled through end of Lintel & metal showing

Wow what a difference how neat your venting is up to how the builder left mine !
It was not pretty until i put the plaster undercoat on to tidy it up. When the plastering and painting is done i will fix it in properly. I left a small gap around the pipe so i could get silicone around it and that silicone can be easily cut in the future so i can remove for maintenance if needed. The pipe will be on top of tall wall units and boxed in a bit like yours. Pencil mark is the top line of units.

I hope I've got this completely wrong.... I've been re-reading all your replies and noticed area on my pic's ...

Is there bricks missing on the internal wall under lintel ?

( I'm sure it is where they knocked out the original concrete window seal covered with white plastic)

I attached pic original internally & externally of kitchen window & door

cant see why they would need to chop out that area so i think it is likly to like that from new build - see what others think

It's just a bit of the cavity closer, nothing to worry about. A real builder would have removed it all to continue the insulation but hey ho.

No point changing the ducting now, the damage has been done.

You are starting to "over think" it. You are not the first, and certainly won't be the last , to have building work done that does not meet your expectations. Maybe a second opinion from another builder to visit on site ,recommended by family/ friends, to put your mind ar ease.

Definitely needs a pair of expert eyes.

Speak to the council first. I'd hope they'd be interested in the lintel at least, perhaps a conversation will result that guides you in a helpful direction. Although councils will not normally formally recommend anyone, you may get guidance.

Councils have/sometimes have, a list of proper trusted traders. Worth asking.

Apologies I've not replied sooner... Having difficulty charging my phone (will buy a new mobile today)

I will get advice from another builder... and I will ask about for recommendations.

Please can you give me advice what to look for to ensure the builder knows how to sort out the problem with the brickwork. Obviously I will make sure the builder can spot the problem and explain how to solve it but is there any questions I should ask ? (don't want the wool pulled over my eye's again !)
Thankk you

When they're done it should look like the rest of the wall, staggered bricks of a good blended colour match, not like a stack of wrong-colour/size bricks one on top of the other
