Hi, we offered on a 1870 Georgian terrace house we like but found out on the building survey that they have old Eternit tiles which have 10% asbestos on the roof and the roof would need to be renewed in 2 to 3 years. We are really worried about how much this would cost to renew. Does anyone have any experience with asbestos tiles on their roofs and can give us an idea/example of how much it costs to get rid of the asbestos tiles and replace the roof? I heard you need an asbestos certified company to dispose of it as well and these are quite expensive?

One more thing, does anyone know if this poses any health risk for us to live there? Searching on the web seems to give conflicting accounts.

Thank you!

your find that most the firms will be in the same ball park as to price but there is ways of you saving money if. You supply scaffolding and you can hire a aspestos Bin (skip) and bags ect and remove the tiles your self bag them and put them in the skip close the lid and they will take it away.

Your need the dust suites mask ect and a small amount or water to kee the dust down.

As soon as any says aspestos then wait to hear the jackpot noise. as people tend to run a mile and panic.

But it is a job you or the roofer can do he will charge you more for it But mite be alot cheaper then a firm.
Dont panic its a easy fix to get removed then you can crack on with a nice new roof.
