Cost of rebuilding a small wall?

Best way to get it out of yer system, If you and your neighbour have both got decent cars, challenge him to a demolition derby in Tescos car park Word of warning, if he turns up in his lorry, chicken out.

As Noseall has said it is worth about 300 notes. Unless it was built in lime mortar, you will struggle to clean of sand and cement, and even if you manage the bricks will be well stained and bricklayer will not get clean face on his headers on pier.

Hello again fella's, Just to let all you know the outcome of all this .. :)
I removed every brick myself, cleaning them up as I dismantled. stacking them on a pallet in order from top down to bottom, separating the pillar from the wall bricks -because they were 'buff split' facing bricks. (It took me about three long afternoons)
Decided to gain from the situation by getting ready with a pipe to insert in the pillar to accomodate a SWA cable to power a pillar light which the wife always wanted on the wall.
Got an old mate (who used to be a brickie) to asemble it all in one day -over 8 hours with dutiful mugs of tea....who charged me £80.

One bag of cement and 3 bags of building sand...cost £12.27p

.....and I charged my neighbour £105. I'm sure that I will be called names like 'stupid' for not making more out of the situation! But that's life.

Anyway, the wall looks a lot better and my neighbour and I are still good friends. Thank you all for your comments. (Although I might get a few more). Best Wishes everyone.

Would not call you stupid fellow, more like honest.
Pleased it went well for you.
Out of curiosity, how much did you charge the wife for the light?

one bag of cement and say 3 small bags of building sand,
about 175 bricks in total.

Thats a VERY strong VERY small mix for 175 bricks especially with a pillar

I'm in the same situation but came home today to find my neighbours car embedded in my wall. This was only repaired about 8 years ago after a van partly demolished it and it cost LOT MORE than the figures banded on here. The wall has been finished off with 18 inch railings along the entire lenth and has red stone coping along its entirity.Underneath its dry dashed with derby spar and a mixture of white sand / white cement as the base.I have been offered the full cost of reinstatment without going through his car insurance but reckon once the quotes start to hit the doormat he will chicken out. At least 4 meters has been affected as the towbar burst clean through it.I reckon on a good day you will be lucky to get change out of 5K.Houses around here fetch around 400K and builders price accordingly
