I got a phone call at work today. Answered it. Long pause (we have a PBX system and it occasionally pauses before connecting, and sometimes old people phone who have temporarily forgotten how to use a telephone). Then I got "hello?" So I replied "hello?". "I am calling from (a vaguely loan-related company name) can I speak with the owner please?" (Indian accent)
I politely told her that she had the wrong number and hung up.
This really winds me up.
This woman probably sits there all day on 10p an hour, being connected to people who are wondering wtf is going on, and gets all kinds of abuse from said people.
And how many of these callers will actually say "oh thank goodness you called, I was about to go to the Bank for a loan. I wont bother now" NONE OF THEM!
The worst bit is, they dont even have a human being dialling the numbers, a computer does it for them and then we the reciever of the call have to wait to be connected to someone trying to sell us something!!!
