crumbling bricks

Hi All
the red bricks in my hse are falling apart; Large chunks are coming off with signs of powder [same as u get in wood with woodworm]. I also found a dead beadle in one of them; It is happening too high up to be rising dump;
Any ideas as to what it is and the cure would be appreciated

The cure is to replace the bricks

Check to see if guttering or downpipe are leaking onto the bricks in question..

How old are the bricks....

The hse is a1930"s hse;
The problem is happening in more than one place not close or below any
guttering or down pipes; The next door hse seems to exibit the same problem

that wasn't Jeremy beadle was it? i always wondered what happend to him
