Having complete new C/H system when building work complete. Never used old boiler to heat up immersion tank just used Electric for 1 hour per day. Gas off at tap now it's summer but I take it still needs gas guy to remove Boiler? We want to remove as many of old pipes as possible so on the immersion can we cut the pipes from boiler and leave them open at a good height of course. Thanks

1) Yes you need a GasSafe engineer to remove the gas supply from the boiler.

2) Switch off both gas and electric supplied to the boiler

3) Isolate the water supply to the header tank

4)Drain down the central heating/hot water loops including the header tank if you have an open vented system.

Then you can disconnect the flow and return pipework from the cylinder assuming that you want to keep the immersion to provide hot water.

Be aware that it's cheaper to burn gas to heat your water than it is to use electric - electric is about four times the price of gas
