Damaged white triangle on brown outside gas meter box .. any ideas?

Hi​

The white triangle to open my meter box has now disintegrated . I know it's the home owners responsibility to mend. I can't open the box as there is nothing to grip. Anyone got any ideas re opening the lid at all ? Sure there has to be some obvious way, other than by only using this route and I am just being stupid/ optimistic.. maybe not?

Some pin nose pliers perhaps? Cut a slot in what's remaining with a stanley knife and use a flat blade screwdriver? Got a photo?

Drool hope in triangle bit that's left. Put a screw in. Turn screw to open.
Then fit some kind of catch for future locking

A hot screwdriver blade will form a nice slot in the old lock and enable you to open the door, then repair as above.
