Bought my bungalow 7 years ago - when stripping the wood chip we found damp on the chimney breast and alcove. Was advised that disued chimney stack was the problems and we had it removed, and then papered with anaglypta.
Although it never quite cleared up, we have noticed that it now appears to be back. The worst patch (which shows a very pronounced anaglypta pattern) is right in the middle of the chimney breast, about 5' from floor. Any advice as to where this damp is coming from as now no chimney stack. We did put a side vent grill in the chinmeny breast, but that doesn't seem to have help
