We moved into our house a couple of years ago where there is a 30 year old alarm system with movement detectors. It has never been serviced as far as I'm aware and we never use it because we have a cat. I want to deactivate/turn off the whole system. Any advice on the following would be much appreciated.

1. Will I have to get in a specialist to deactivate the alarm.
2. If so roughly how much will this cost.
3. If I switch off the alarm at the trip switch am I correct in assuming there will be a back up battery system that will simply cut in.

Thanks

seems fair, if you don't know then ask, and you are asking. I will try.

what is being advertised and by who
nothing is being advertised now. It was being advertised. Free advertising is not allowed

the questions asked seem ok to me
it was the reply that was removed, not the question

he is asking for guidance
why dont you gve him your opinion / suggestion then (i was going to, but you asked first)

and a idea what cost may be if he gets a company in
asking costs is always a bad idea on any forum

write about who you like, so long as it does not break any of the rules.

Sorry i see now please forgive me its my age

If posting a link to a well written article which answered the question asked, albeit on a commercial website, is advertising then surely this defeats the object of this forum.
