Hi
We've got new decking in the garden - about 100sq metres of it. It's green tanalised timber. Need to get it treated with something but not sure what's best to use.

Do we go for an oil or say a cuprinol stain treatment? Deck gets full sun all day long so does seem to be drying out quite a lot. If we went for oil, would we need to do this every year? If we went for a cuprinol could we get away with just reapplying say every 3 -5 years?

Could anyone give some advise on what would be the best way to go please.

you don't need to treat it if it is tanalised, a coating would only be decorative in this instance, leaving it as is would mean it would bleach to a grey colour if that is desired.

Oils fail very quickly externally, and would need yearly maintenence. A pigmented stain should reasonably last 3-5 years

Thanks for the advice - will go for the stain.
