Hi guys.

I recently bought a house. Its a victorian house with chimney etc.
I want to put a multifuel stove in my lounge.
Now i know this requies a class 1 flue and relevant certified engineer etc.
There is already a flue in place, no idea what for, i did a makeshift pressure test on it and it seems intact.
How can i tell if it is a class 1 or class 2 flue?
are there any features?
Just trying to work out if it needs replacing or not to establish whether i need to get saving!
cheers in advance

How can i tell if it is a class 1 or class 2 flue?
Class 1 flues have a conventional chimney stack and are part of the house construction. Normal draft or flue pull, usually 7" or so in diameter.

Class 2 are purpose built with a 5" diameter (usually) and are constructed using flue blocks, and flue pipes etc. These are commonly used for gas fires and other appliances.

That is only a short description of the dark art of flueing, but may enable you to ID yours.

Sounds like you have a Class 1.
