Device like an apple corer but for nails?

Hi

Does anyone know how I can cut a nail out of some wood? I can't pull it out, so just want to cut around it. Something like a circular chisel or hollow drill bit would do.

Hi all

Following the leads that were posted I came across hole cutters for tiles. They are an abrasive ring with a hollow area in the middle, and only around £2.

I'm not sure if this method of cutting is suitable for Pine though? I thought it might burn.

No, unfortunately I can't knock the nail through.

The diamond coated holesaws will just burn & clog with resin.

If you have an odd bit of metal tube you can just file some small teeth into the end.

I wouldn't recommend those, Jason. I bought a set a few years back and they were nought but trouble. They're only carbon steel, so they burn very easily, especially in oak. Also if they snag at all you'll find that they can unwind like a spiral wound touilet roll tube......

why not get an old chisel or a stanley knife, and cut enough wood away to reveal the nail head..... and pliers to pull it out ?

another tack is good old fashioned nail pullers
you line the jaws up hammer down the hand slide this forces the jaws into the wood beside the nail head at an angle closing up the gap
you then lever further closing tightening the jaws whilst pulling the nail out
