I'm trying to replace a regular switch with a dimmer.
I have two wire bundles in my wall box. One has black, white, and bare; the other has black, white, red, and bare. The dimmer has black, green, and two reds.
I wired the switch according to the instructions, and the dimmer worked perfectly to dim the bathroom light and fan. So what's the problem? The switch is in the DINING ROOM. (the DR and BR are on the same circuit)
Does anyone know what could be the problem?
Thanks in advance!

PS - I'm in the US.

The wires, black white and bare are your standard household wires. It sound to me that you have your wires crossed. One set chould be for one room while the other set is for the bathroom. If you can figure out which set goes to which you should be able to correct the problem.
