@ Crafty, cheers m8 understand 100% there is flex on the lamp allready m8 it is the grey flex round as i siad 3 core with the earth insulated and i wouldent be putting t&e on lol with no insulated earth.

? so what about the wire that is grey flat and oval with all 3 cores insulated L, N, E, is that t&e or flex.

There is a kind of flex used on table lamps with just 2 cores, this is flat, comes in a variety of colours.

I have never heard of Twin and Earth with 3 insulated cores.

There is 3 core and earth, with 3 insulated and one bare earth. Used for switch wiring.

It does exist, although I've only seen it in the old colours. Because the cpc is insulated the cable is just a little broader than standard T & E.
